BREAST CANCER WALK
Senator Espero joined Senator Baker (Maui) and U.H. Manoa Chancellor Virginia Hinshaw at the 2010 Breast Cancer Walk and Fundraiser at Pearl Harbor.
This past session, the Legislature passed Senate Bill 2599 which mandates colorectal cancer screening by Healthcare providers.
ADVOCATING FOR EWA BEACH LIBRARY
Ewa Beach Lions Club members, community residents, and Senator Espero testified before the Board of Education to keep our library open when the idea to close it for cost savings was suggested. Their efforts were successful and the library remains open!

CHILDREN'S FUN DAY
Working with the Coalition for a Drug-Free Hawaii, Ewa Beach Boys & Girls Club, Ewa Beach Lions Club, Weed and Seed Coalition, Honolulu Police Department, and local businesses, Senator Espero chairs the annual Children's Fun Day promoting healthy and drug-free life styles.
Campbell High School students were joined by Senator Espero for an area clean-up in Ewa Beach. Community service and engaging with our youth are two important and satisfying pastimes for Senator Espero.
GROUNDBREAKING at EWA MAHIKO PARK
Senator Espero joined Mayor Hanneman and members of the community for the City's groundbreaking of new park improvements at Ewa Mahiko Park. Senator Espero has been a strong advocate for more parks and recreational facilities in Ewa. A new gymnasium, community center, tennis courts, and basketball courts are being built and will be completed by 2011.
This will be a great park for our community.
EYE OF THE PACIFIC AWARD
At the 20th anniversary of the American with Disabilties Act of 1990, David Palmores presented Senator Espero with a plaque in recognition of the senator's work with the visually impaired and their seeing eye dogs.
WHITE CANE WALK
Each year, Senator Espero joins those who are visually impaired at the White Cane Walk downtown. The walk raises awareness of those with sight problems and eye disabilities.
At a recent fundraiser for the Foodbank, Senator Espero helped friends for a worthy cause.
Many volunteers chipped in and much money was raised. The baked goods were delicious!
RECYCLING AT JAMES CAMPBELL HIGH SCHOOL
Senator Espero collected newspapers, cans, bottles, car batteries, tires, eye glasses, used oil, computers and other recyclables with James Campbell High School Students for Aloha Aina Day, a school fundraiser.
The senator supports all and more recycling efforts in our state.
Hale O Ulu is an alternative school for at-risk teenagers located at Child and Family Services. Senator Espero volunteers his time at the school to help and engage with the students.
EWA LITTLE LEAGUE
A plaque of appreciation was presented to Senator Espero for his support of the Ewa Little League.
STOP DOMESTIC VIOLENCE
Senator Espero participated at the State Capitol in the Men's March Against Violence.
One idea he has floated is stun guns for victims of domestic abuse who are in life and death situations. Victims would have the option to acquire a stun gun for their protection if they were of sound mind and had taken training for stun gun use.
DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AWARENESS
In a show of bi-partisanship, the now-former representative from Salt Lake and Senator Espero recognized the Navy's efforts dealing with domestic violence. A legislative certificate was presented to Admiral Dixon Smith from Pearl Harbor.
CITIZENS WITH DISABILITIES
Citizens with disablities and special needs have a friend in Senator Espero. One of the first bills introduced and passed by Will Espero when he was still a representative was a measure which added further protections for service and guide dogs.
STOP FRIDAY FURLOUGHS
Senator Espero collaborated with residents early to end Friday Furloughs. He supported legislation to end Friday Furloughs and require 180 days of school each year. Education must be a top priority.

Senator Espero is an advisor to the West Oahu Civil Air Patrol Cadet program. This photo is at the Ewa Field remembrance ceremony in 2009. Senator Espero has been talking with Hunt Development and the Navy about preserving a portion of this WWII battle field west of Pearl Harbor.
